1. Since 1901, two players have had a season in which they recorded at least 500 ABs while failing to reach 100 hits. The last time this happened was forty-eight years ago when Tom Tresh – who was with the Yankees at the time – had 507 ABs and only 99 hits. That is good for a .195 BA. The other man to do this was Monte Cross, who had 503 ABs and 95 hits in 1904, which amounts to an abysmal .189 batting average. Let’s just say this is not a group any current player would like to join. (h/t baseball reference)
