1. Since 1901, two players have had a season in which they recorded at least 500 ABs while failing to reach 100 hits. The last time this happened was forty-eight years ago when Tom Tresh – who was with the Yankees at the time – had 507 ABs and only 99 hits. That is good for a .195 BA. The other man to do this was Monte Cross, who had 503 ABs and 95 hits in 1904, which amounts to an abysmal .189 batting average.
