1. What happened to the art of stealing bases? The current stolen base per-game average in baseball this year is 0.50. If that held throughout the rest of the season, it would be the lowest mark since 1972. There are currently only twenty players this season who have recorded double-digit steals and only three players have stolen at least twenty-bases this season. What’s more, the Orioles – who are in first place – have twelve steals as a team in 2016. The Washington Senators hold the record for the fewest stolen bases in a season for a team (13). The Orioles should not challenge the Senators *record,* but you never know.
